Job summary

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) is seeking a Purchaser in Austin, TX to handle advanced purchasing and procurement for the Food & Nutrition division. You will ensure federal and state requirements are met, provide subject-matter guidance, and train staff on purchasing processes with minimal supervision.

You will manage bid documents, coordinate awards, and maintain detailed procurement records while collaborating with programs to improve contract performance and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; substitution allowed with two years related experience.
• Three years’ work experience in purchasing, procurement and/or contracts.
• CTCM and CTCD certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• Substitution: related bachelor’s degree may substitute for work experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, coordinate and write complex solicitation documents (RFB/RFO/RFI/RFP).
• Prepare formal solicitations and recommendations for awards; set bid opening dates and award bids.
• Process purchase requests and convert requisitions to purchase orders; maintain records.
• Review requisitions for correctness and compliance prior to processing.
• Coordinate with vendors to ensure delivery of goods and services; support HUB/MWBE strategies.
