Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation seeks Purchaser III/IV/V to perform purchasing duties across term contracts and open market procurements. Responsibilities include researching products, developing specifications, and evaluating vendor responses.

The role requires knowledge of public purchasing rules, the ability to prepare procurement documents, and liaison with districts, divisions, and vendors. Flexible schedules and statewide deployment are possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in any discipline required.
• Purchaser III: 1 year purchasing experience.
• Purchaser IV: 2 years purchasing experience, preference for public purchasing.
• Purchaser V: 3 years purchasing experience, including 1 year public purchasing.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to drive a state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Prepare requisitions for term contracts and open market purchases.
• Assist in developing specifications and SOWs with market research.
• Coordinate and compile standard reports.
• Review specifications for completeness and compliance.
• Assist in evaluating responses and preparing award recommendations.
• Coordinate product demonstrations, testing, and evaluations.
• Provide guidance and act as liaison between districts, divisions, and vendors.
• Maintain procurement files and correspondence.
• Monitor market trends and pricing changes.
