Job summary

Met Council is America’s largest Jewish charity serving the needy through comprehensive social services across New York. The Procurement Coordinator supports the procurement and distribution of kosher and halal foods, coordinating ordering, purchasing, scheduling, logistics, and inventory with fiscal oversight.

The role interfaces with the Procurement Manager, Warehouse Director, and Food Program team to ensure smooth warehouse operations, vendor relationships, and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree; equivalent work experience accepted.
• 1–3 years of experience in procurement, logistics, warehouse operations, or administrative support.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM/ERP data systems.
• Working knowledge of Kashruth and/or halal dietary laws (preferred); or willingness to learn (required).

Responsibilities

• Assist with ordering and purchasing of food through online and phone orders from donated sources.
• Identify vendors, negotiate prices, and procure food from kosher and halal suppliers.
• Maintain communications with the Food Program team, suppliers, and agencies on orders, pickups, and deliveries.
• Help secure donations of kosher and halal food products.
• Coordinate inbound deliveries and outbound distributions with vendors and warehouse staff.
• Coordinate vendor direct deliveries to network agencies and special projects.
• Work with Fiscal Department to secure approvals and track payments.
• Support inventory tracking using Salesforce-based system.
• Maintain data in the inventory system and ensure consistent usage across programs.
• Perform additional duties as required.
