Job summary

Baseten is seeking a Procurement Lead to build the company’s procurement function from the ground up. You will design and implement scalable workflows, policies, and governance, partnering with Finance, Legal, Security, Compliance, IT, and business owners across Baseten.

You will own vendor onboarding, due diligence, and strategic sourcing, ensuring controls and SOX compliance as Baseten grows. This role demands leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to thrive in a high-growth tech

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive procurement experience, including building or maturing a procurement function at a high-growth tech company.
• Experience designing procurement processes, policies, and systems from the ground up.
• Experience running RFPs and vendor selection processes for business stakeholders.
• Experience with strategic sourcing and vendor contract negotiations across multiple spend categories.
• Experience partnering with Security, Compliance, and Legal on vendor risk assessments.
• Comfortable operating with ambiguity and building structure where none exists.
• Strong cross-functional partnership with Finance, Legal, Security, Compliance, IT, and business owners.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Baseten's first company-wide procurement process, approval routing, and workflows.
• Establish procurement policies (spend thresholds, approval authority, competitive bidding) for a high-growth business.
• Design scalable procurement processes that minimize friction for teams.
• Define procurement's operating model and roadmap as the function scales.
• Build out procurement workflows within the P2P platform (requisition, approval, purchase orders).
• Develop reporting and visibility into company-wide spend by category, vendor, and department.
• Own vendor onboarding, due diligence, and risk assessment in collaboration with Security, Compliance, and Legal.
• Lead or support strategic sourcing, RFPs, and contract negotiations for business owners.
