Job summary

Baseten is seeking a Procurement Lead to build and scale Baseten's procurement function from the ground up. You will design company-wide procurement processes, policies, and systems, and own vendor onboarding, risk assessments, and strategic sourcing.

You will partner with Finance, Legal, Security, Compliance, IT, and business owners to ensure smooth, scalable purchasing across the organization. You will lead the development of an operating model, establish spend controls, and implement

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive procurement experience in a high-growth tech company.
• Experience designing procurement processes, policies, and systems from the ground up.
• Experience running RFPs and vendor selection for business stakeholders.
• Experience with strategic sourcing and contract negotiation across multiple spend categories.
• Experience partnering with Security, Compliance, and Legal on vendor risk assessments.
• Ability to operate with significant ambiguity and build structure where none exists today.
• Strong cross-functional partnership with Finance, Legal, Security, Compliance, IT, and business owners.

Responsibilities

• Design Baseten's first company-wide procurement process, approvals, and workflows.
• Establish procurement policies (spend thresholds, approvals, competitive bidding).
• Design scalable processes that minimize friction in purchasing.
• Define procurement operating model and roadmap as the function scales.
• Build procurement workflows within the P2P platform and create spend visibility reports.
• Own vendor onboarding, due diligence, and risk assessments with Security, Compliance, and Legal.
• Lead or support strategic sourcing, RFPs, and contract negotiations for business owners.
• Build a vendor management framework covering performance, risk, and renewals.
• Partner with Legal, Security, Compliance, IT, and business units to fit purchasing needs.
• Act as trusted advisor on sourcing strategy and vendor selection.
