Job summary

Teachers Federal Credit Union in Hauppauge, NY is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to initiate, prepare, process and verify purchase orders to maintain stock levels and fulfill ad hoc requests.

Responsibilities include monitoring inventory, issuing POs, expediting orders, researching suppliers, negotiating pricing, maintaining records, and generating reports. A high school diploma or GED and at least one year of general work experience are required, with MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor inventory levels, initiate purchase orders.
• Maintain adequate stock levels, forward approved orders to suppliers, monitor fulfillment and expedite requests as needed.
• Place service calls on fixed assets (water coolers, coffee machines, printers, copiers, etc.).
• Research and select the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality and cost efficiency.
• Request cost proposals and negotiate pricing to obtain competitive prices.
• Maintain records of all transactions, purchase orders and receipts; initiate payment when orders are fulfilled.
• Prepare reports and maintain accurate procurement records.
• Track and resolve purchasing issues and discrepancies.
• Build and maintain long-term relations with suppliers.
• Analyze industry and demand trends to optimize sourcing strategies.
