Job summary

Blue Hat Mechanical, a midsize commercial HVAC company serving the Raleigh/Durham area, seeks a Procurement & Inventory Specialist. You will manage purchasing, receiving, and warehouse organization to keep technicians stocked for each job.

No prior procurement or HVAC experience required; we value reliability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable using spreadsheets and basic inventory or purchasing software.
• Ability to lift and move materials and work standing in a warehouse.
• Must have a valid driver's license for parts runs.
• Clear communicator coordinating with technicians, vendors, and staff.
• Proactive mindset with ownership of warehouse and truck operations.
• Experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, or related trade is a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase supplies and materials from vendors, compare pricing and availability.
• Receive deliveries, verify against packing slips, and check in/store materials.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and records for parts, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Organize and maintain a clean, efficient warehouse.
• Stock and replenish truck inventory for service trucks.
• Pull and stage materials before installations and service calls.
• Track tool checkout and equipment assignments.
• Handle warranty parts, returns, and vendor credits.
• Coordinate parts runs and supplier pickups as needed.
• Maintain purchasing and inventory activity records and spreadsheets.
• Support other warehouse and purchasing tasks as needed.

About the Role

We're looking for an organized, hands‑on Procurement & Inventory Specialist to keep our warehouse running smoothly and our technicians stocked and ready for every job. This role supports our commercial HVAC operations by managing purchasing, receiving, warehouse organization, and truck stock for our fleet of 15 service trucks.

No prior experience in procurement or HVAC is required — we're looking for someone detail‑oriented, reliable, and eager to learn who takes pride in keeping things organized and running efficiently. If you're mechanically curious, comfortable in a fast‑paced warehouse environment, and enjoy solving problems, this could be a great fit.

What You'll Do

• Source and purchase supplies, parts, and materials from vendors and supply houses, comparing pricing and availability
• Receive incoming deliveries, verify orders against packing slips, and ensure materials are properly checked in and stored
• Maintain accurate inventory counts, stock levels, and records for parts, tools, equipment, and supplies
• Organize and manage the warehouse to keep it clean, efficient, and easy to navigate
• Stock and replenish truck inventory for our fleet of service trucks, ensuring technicians have what they need for scheduled jobs
• Pull and stage materials in advance of installations and service calls
• Track tool checkout and equipment assignments
• Handle warranty parts, returns, credits, and follow‑up with vendors
• Coordinate parts runs and supply house pickups as needed
• Maintain organized records and spreadsheets for purchasing and inventory activity
• Support other warehouse and purchasing tasks as needed

What We're Looking For

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to lift and move materials, and to be on your feet in a warehouse environment
• A valid driver's license (some parts runs and supply house pickups required)
• Clear communicator who can coordinate with technicians, vendors, and office staff
• A proactive, "figure it out" mindset — someone who takes ownership of keeping the warehouse and trucks running smoothly
• Prior experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, or a related trade is a plus, but not required
