Job summary

QXO is seeking an organized Purchaser/Buyer to join our office-based team in Laurel, MD. You will manage purchase orders, coordinate deliveries, monitor inventory, and liaise with vendors across purchasing, sales, operations, and logistics to ensure accurate, timely materials for projects.

Ideal candidates have experience in purchasing or supply chain, familiarity with inventory systems, and strong Microsoft Office skills. Availability for occasional extended hours may be required.

• Occasional support in warehouse/inventory environments.
• Occasional extended hours based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Process, track, and confirm purchase orders with vendors
• Coordinate delivery schedules and follow up to ensure on-time arrivals
• Compare vendor pricing, freight rates, and availability to support cost-effective purchasing decisions
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
• Monitor inventory levels and support replenishment planning
• Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders for accuracy
• Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory processes
• Maintain accurate inventory records using internal systems
• Serve as a liaison between purchasing, sales, operations, and logistics teams
• Communicate delivery timelines, product availability, and order status
• Support material transfers between locations as needed
• Assist warehouse teams with inventory systems and reconciliation processes
• Provide timely and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders
• Support resolution of order issues, delays, or discrepancies
• Assist in maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction
• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and efficiency
• Stay informed on market trends, product availability, and pricing changes
• Share knowledge and contribute to a collaborative team environment
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
