Job summary

VarcoMac is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join our purchasing team, supporting day-to-day procurement for commercial electrical projects by reviewing POs, sourcing materials, coordinating deliveries, and maintaining procurement records.

This is a full-time role based in the Prince Frederick office with a possible hybrid schedule, offering a path for growth as VarcoMac expands its footprint in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore markets.

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement or purchasing is preferred; training may be provided.
• ERP or purchase management system experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of commercial, industrial, or governmental electrical markets is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Review purchase orders for accuracy before issuing to vendors.
• Source material requisitions from vendor network to optimize price, availability, value, and terms.
• Evaluate vendor quotes to support purchasing decisions based on project needs and value.
• Process purchase orders in the company accounting system and vendor systems.
• Coordinate deliveries with site personnel and issue acknowledgements; expedite orders when needed.
• Maintain procurement documentation for accurate records and audits.
• Assist Accounts Payable with invoice discrepancies and PO questions.
