Job summary

Melwood Horticultural Training Center Inc. is seeking a Procurement Manager to lead the Procurement Department and supervise a small team at our Upper Marlboro, MD campus.

You will support Operations, Finance and Contracting, manage procurement databases, catalogs and pricing, and oversee RFQs and bid analysis. The role requires 5+ years in procurement or related fields, a Bachelor's degree preferred, and strong MS Office/Unanet skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of combined experience in Procurement/Accounting/Finance/Contracts/Business or related field; Bachelor's preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Unanet procurement system; detail-oriented data entry and maintenance.
• In-office 3 days per week; 5 days per week on-site work schedule.
• Knowledge of procurement best practices, RFQs, pricing analysis, vendor selection, reporting and compliance with government contracting regulations.
• Strong time management, problem-solving, and communication skills; valid driver's license; leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and executes authorized purchases from vendors; sources products and equipment cost-effectively.
• Manages procurement databases in Unanet including catalogs, pricing, and vendor records.
• Collaborates with Operations, Contracting, Finance, and Subcontracting on procurement requirements and reporting.
• Performs RFQs, price evaluations, and bid analyses; ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitors vendor delivery, resolves discrepancies, and coordinates with Finance for vehicle purchases.
• Leads department workflows and oversees a small support team; trains and mentors staff.
