Procurement Buyer

Sterling Heights, MI

Contract Position

Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary liaison between General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) and suppliers/subcontractors, managing fixed-price and cost-reimbursement subcontracts and purchase orders.

• Analyze material requirements using the Oracle system to identify purchasing needs.

• Develop and issue Requests for Quotes (RFQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Information (RFIs).

• Perform cost and price analyses on vendor proposals to ensure alignment with budget and program objectives.

• Negotiate contract terms to meet performance, delivery, and cost targets.

• Prepare, place, and administer purchase orders and subcontracts; monitor supplier compliance with contract terms and delivery schedules.

• Coordinate issue resolution with suppliers related to quality, payment, and design matters.

• Manage the source selection process in accordance with GDLS and procurement regulations.

• Ensure compliance with applicable procurement laws and company standards.

• Conduct onsite supplier program reviews as necessary.

• Monitor MRP planning and lead-time schedules to ensure timely procurement.

• Support cross-functional program teams and participate in strategic supply chain efforts.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

• 1–3 years of experience in procurement or supply chain functions.

• Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

• Experience using Oracle and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.

• Strong understanding of procurement processes and compliance standards.

• Proven skills in cost and price analysis, contract negotiation, and proposal evaluation.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.

• Effective problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Occasional domestic and international travel required.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
