An established industry player is seeking a Procurement Buyer to join their dynamic team in New Haven, CT. The Buyer I is expected to gain competency and knowledge of contract administration, procurement, sourcing, analytics, MMIS item & database management, and project management through daily tasks. The individual must be able to handle assigned tasks with minimal supervision. The ability to change priorities based on organizational needs is essential.
Along with the Supervisor, this person may also take direction from Supply Chain leadership, the Senior Contract Specialist, Contract Specialist I / II, Sourcing Specialist, and Value Analysis Nurse to perform duties related to the acquisition of goods and services for all YNHHS entities.
The Buyer must collaborate with various levels of Supply Chain and Hospital personnel to explore alternatives and participate in vendor negotiations for supplies and services. Responsibilities include Purchase Order execution, Requisition Queue management, standardization, cost stabilization, and contract document preparation to protect all YNHHS entities. Collecting information, financial analysis, and project documentation are also required.

Qualifications :
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a business field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Experience: With a Bachelor's Degree, 0-1 years of experience required; without a degree, 1-2 years in Procurement or Supply Chain Management, preferably in Healthcare. Experience with contracts and database management is preferred.
Licensure: CMRP or equivalent professional certification (e.g., Six Sigma, APICS CPIM or CSCP) preferred. Pharmacy technicians in CT should have current registration.
Skills: Proficiency in Excel; ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships; capable of working autonomously; adaptable to changing priorities; proficient in Word and PowerPoint; effective communicator with keen attention to detail.
