Procurement Assistant
Location: Queens, NY - Hybrid (WFH one day each week)
About the Opportunity
As a Procurement Assistant, you will help make sure the right products arrive at the right time and price, directly impacting margins, in-stock rates, and customer satisfaction. The role is built for an early-career supply-chain professional eager to grow into a Buyer or Category Manager track while working in a fast-paced environment that rewards initiative and data-driven decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Release and track purchase orders that align with sales forecasts and shelf‑life considerations, reducing excess and spoilage
- Partner with vendors and internal teams to negotiate cost, lead‑time, and service commitments that support margin and inventory‑turn targets
- Monitor daily/weekly cost and inventory reports, flag variances, and recommend corrective actions
- Research and resolve pricing or billing discrepancies, process credits, and maintain accurate purchasing records
- Coordinate with warehouse operations to maintain efficient product flow and support promotional events
- Use remote buying tools to place emergency orders or make real‑time adjustments when working off‑site
Qualifications
- At least 6 months in a Supply Chain or Procurement‑related role or relevant experience
- Working knowledge of procurement, inventory planning, logistics, and basic accounting concepts
- Proficiency with Excel and the ability to learn new purchasing platforms
- Proven multitasking skills with keen attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication to foster supplier and cross‑functional relationships
- Genuine interest in the food‑service industry and emerging market trends
