Our client, based in New York City, is seeking a strategic and hands-on Procurement Manager to lead purchasing operations, supplier management, and sourcing initiatives within a fast-growing food distribution company. This position will oversee a team of procurement professionals while partnering closely with executive leadership to drive inventory performance, supplier relationships, process improvements, and technology adoption. Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement professionals.
- Manage day-to-day purchasing activities, supplier relationships, and sourcing initiatives.
- Drive procurement strategy to support organizational growth and business objectives.
- Utilize ERP systems and advanced planning tools including AI to manage purchasing workflows, reporting, and decision-making.
- Support the adoption of AI-enabled procurement and demand planning technologies.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities that enhance efficiency, service levels, and cost performance.
- Partner with cross functional teams for forecasting
- Monitor inventory levels, stock availability, spoilage risks, and supplier performance.
- Develop, track, and report on key procurement KPIs, including inventory, supplier performance, service levels, and cost savings.
- Lead change management initiatives and promote continuous improvement across procurement operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field.
- 5+ years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management experience.
- Experience managing direct reports and leading teams.
- Background in food or consumer products distribution or manufacturing with experience in expiration date management or perishables
- Experience working with ERP systems, procurement systems and AI business tools
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities.
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
