Job summary

The University of North Texas Health Science Center is looking for a Proctor to support the testing environment for UNT Health students and academic departments in Fort Worth. This part-time, hourly role focuses on administering computer-based examinations and ensuring protocols are followed.

You will admit students, monitor exams, assist with materials and resolve technical issues on laptops, contributing to a secure and fair testing experience for up to 250 examinees.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and one (1) year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain attentive and notice details in a group setting.
  • Willingness to document and report student behavior.
  • Experience using software and technical resources, particularly in an online environment (i.e. Microsoft Suite).

Responsibilities

  • Support the setup and administration of computer-based examinations and other student assessments for class sizes ranging from 20 to 250 students.
  • Admit students into a secure testing environment.
  • Ensure only appropriate items are permitted in exam room.
  • Ensure students comply with all protocols.
  • Provide instruction to examinees as needed.
  • Assist with distribution and collection of exam materials.
  • Collaborate with other proctors to ensure an appropriate assessment environment.
  • Monitor student examinations, assessments, and exam review sessions.
  • Resolve technical issues that may arise on student laptops during exams.
  • Facilitate a secure, fair testing environment for students.

Department Summary

The mission of the Division Student Affairs is to create solutions for a healthier community by fostering student success. There are multiple functional units within Student Affairs, including the Center for Student Life, the Career Readiness Center, the Center for Academic Performance, the Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, the Office of Disability Access, and the Student Assistance Resource Center.

Position Overview

This position is part of the Division of Student Affairs at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNT Health) and the Department of Testing and Evaluation Services. This position supports UNT Health students and academic departments with a wide variety of student assessment (examination/testing) activities including administering both in-person and online assessments. This position fosters student success by ensuring student knowledge is effectively measured and academic curricular goals are achieved.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma and one (1) year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work collaboratively with fellow employees, faculty, and staff. Attention to detail and accuracy are a must.
  • Ability to set and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Desired applicant will place a high priority on customer service.
  • Experience in support roles, interacting with clients from multiple levels of an organization, and experience in an academic support environment is preferable.
  • Experience proctoring examinations is a plus.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and proven written communication skills.
  • Comfort level performing tasks before large groups of students (max 250).

  • Facilitate a secure, fair, and appropriate testing environment for students.
  • Resolve exam environment distractions in a timely manner.
  • Monitor online content to facilitate the administration of online or remote assessments.
  • Ensure students comply with all secure testing protocols.
  • Review recorded video content to ensure students comply with secure testing protocols.
  • Document and report any instances of inappropriate behavior in the testing environment.

Work Schedule

Total hours will vary based on the testing schedule. Approximately 8-19 hours per week, Monday through Friday, depending on the testing schedule.
