Job summary

AMG & Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Processing Archivist for a full-time contract.

You will organize, describe, preserve, and provide access to archival materials, working with archivists, librarians, researchers, and records staff to meet standards and organizational requirements. The role emphasizes accessioning, arrangement, finding aids, and metadata; you will ensure accurate documentation, support digitization efforts, and manage archival databases and access.

Qualifications

• Requires 3+ years of professional archival processing or related experience.
• Familiarity with archival standards, cataloging, digitization workflows, and preservation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess, organize, describe archival collections and records.
• Process materials from accessioning through description and storage.
• Develop finding aids, inventories, and descriptive metadata.
• Apply archival standards and maintain consistent documentation.
• Evaluate preservation needs and handling requirements.
• Maintain collection records, access restrictions, and preservation actions.
• Support digitization and organize digital files.
• Maintain databases and collection management systems.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to support access and research needs.
• Assist with acquisition, accessioning, transfer, and new collections.
