Job summary

AMG & Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Processing Archivist for a full-time contract role.

You will support the organization, arrangement, description, preservation, and accessibility of archival collections and historical records, working with archivists, librarians, researchers, and records management professionals to ensure materials are accurately processed and preserved. The role involves creating finding aids, inventories, catalog records, and metadata; applying standards;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in History, Archival Studies, Library Science, Information Science, Records Management, or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional archival processing experience or related field.
• Strong understanding of archival arrangement, description, accessioning, preservation, and collection management.

Responsibilities

• Assess, organize, arrange, describe archival collections and historical documents.
• Process materials from accessioning through arrangement and description.
• Develop and maintain finding aids, inventories, catalogs, and metadata.
• Apply archival standards to ensure consistent documentation.
• Evaluate preservation needs and storage conditions.
• Maintain records of contents, access restrictions, and preservation actions.
• Prepare materials for digitization and verify metadata.
• Maintain databases and collection management systems.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to support access and research needs.
• Assist with acquisition, accessioning, and transfer of new collections.
