AMG & Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Processing Archivist for a full-time contract. You will assess, organize, describe, preserve, and provide access to archival collections, working with archivists, librarians, researchers, and records managers.

You will develop finding aids, inventories, metadata, and ensure standards compliance, while supporting digitization, preservation, and collection accessibility under established policies.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 2000?
• 3+ years of professional archival processing experience.
• Strong knowledge of archival arrangement, description, preservation, and collection management.
• Experience developing finding aids, inventories, catalog records, and metadata.
• Familiarity with digitization workflows and preservation procedures.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital documentation tools.

Mansioni

• Assess, organize, arrange, and describe archival collections, manuscripts, historical documents, photographs, and institutional records.
• Process archival materials from accessioning through arrangement, description, and final storage.
• Develop and maintain finding aids, collection inventories, catalog records, and descriptive metadata.
• Apply archival standards and procedures to ensure consistent documentation.
• Evaluate preservation needs, handling requirements, and appropriate storage conditions.
• Maintain records of collection contents, processing activities, access restrictions, and preservation actions.
• Support digitization by preparing materials for scanning, verifying metadata, and organizing digital files.
• Maintain archival databases, CMS, and electronic records.
• Identify damaged or restricted materials and elevate concerns when appropriate.
• Coordinate with staff to support access and research needs.
• Assist with acquisition, accessioning, transfer, and management of new collections.
• Ensure materials are stored and processed per institutional policies and preservation guidelines.
• Review and update descriptions, catalogs, inventories, and archival docs.
• Support research requests by locating materials for authorized access.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow restricted-records requirements.
• Assist with audits, assessments, preservation projects, and records management.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, metadata quality, and accessibility.
• Ensure assigned projects and documentation are completed on time.
