Job summary

AMG & Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Processing Archivist on a full-time contract basis to support the organization’s archival collections. You will organize, describe, preserve, and provide access to historical records in accordance with standards and internal policies.

The role collaborates with archivists, librarians, researchers, and records managers; duties include creating finding aids, metadata, digitization prep, and ensuring proper storage and access across collections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in History, Archival Studies, Library Science, Information Science, Records Management, or related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in archival processing or related field.
• Experience developing finding aids, inventories, catalog records, or metadata.
• Familiarity with archival standards, digitization workflows, and preservation procedures.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess, organize, arrange, and describe archival materials and records.
• Process materials from accessioning through final storage.
• Develop and maintain finding aids, inventories, and metadata.
• Apply archival standards to ensure consistent organization and documentation.
• Evaluate preservation needs and appropriate storage conditions.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to support access and research needs.
• Prepare materials for digitization and verify metadata.
