Job summary

Velo3D, Inc. is seeking a Process Sustaining Engineer to qualify new laser PBF printers, monitor print quality, and improve production workflows. You will run experiments, analyze data, and prepare reports for customer release while collaborating with applications, hardware, and software teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on metrology, data-driven decision making, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment supporting disruptive additive manufacturing technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university.
• 2+ years in advanced manufacturing; recent grads with hands-on experience may be considered.
• Strong problem-solving, data-driven approach and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work autonomously and with cross-functional teams on disruptive tech.

Responsibilities

• Execute experiments, prepare printers, schedule prints, troubleshoot issues during prints.
• Observe experiments, note anomalies, and troubleshoot run-time issues.
• Perform post-build analysis including metrology and radiography.
• Analyze in-build data to gain insights and identify action items.
• Record data and prepare summary reports for qualification experiments.
• Collaborate with applications team on first article and production builds.
• Identify bottlenecks with lab technicians and improve workflows.
• Validate new features with hardware/software teams and follow SOPs.
• Prepare SOPs, checklists, and analysis guides; participate in meetings.
