Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain OSHA PSM program compliance.
  • Maintain PSI and documentation for processes/equipment.
  • Coordinate PHAs, HAZOPs, and revalidations.
  • Manage MOC, PSSRs, and change management processes.
  • Support mechanical integrity programs and inspections.
  • Oversee EPA RMP compliance and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate ACD Responsible Distribution program audits and actions.
  • Lead investigations into process-safety incidents and near-misses.

Job description

Our client is seeking a PSM / RMP / Responsible Distribution Coordinator to oversee and maintain process safety, risk management, and chemical distribution compliance programs. This position will serve as a key resource for OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), EPA Risk Management Program (RMP), and Alliance for Chemical Distributors (ACD) Responsible Distribution requirements.

The coordinator will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, Transportation, and EHS teams to maintain regulatory compliance, identify gaps, coordinate corrective actions, and support a strong process-safety culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and administer the company’s PSM program in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain Process Safety Information (PSI) and documentation for covered processes and equipment.
  • Coordinate PHAs, HAZOPs, What-If analyses, and revalidations, including tracking recommendations through completion.
  • Administer the Management of Change (MOC) process and coordinate Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
  • Support mechanical integrity programs, including inspection, testing, preventive maintenance, equipment deficiencies, and reliability initiatives.
  • Maintain and coordinate the company’s EPA Risk Management Program (RMP), including hazard assessments, prevention programs, emergency response requirements, audits, and regulatory submissions.
  • Serve as coordinator for the ACD Responsible Distribution program, including assessments, audits, documentation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead or support investigations involving process-safety incidents, near misses, releases, and equipment failures.
  • Conduct or coordinate compliance audits and ensure findings and corrective actions are tracked through closure.
  • Coordinate required PSM/RMP training for employees and contractors and maintain appropriate training records.
  • Maintain compliance calendars, regulatory records, action-item tracking, and required program documentation.
  • Develop and monitor process-safety and compliance metrics and provide routine reporting to EHS leadership and management.
  • Monitor applicable regulatory changes and identify potential compliance gaps.
  • Partner cross-functionally with EHS, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, Transportation, management, contractors, regulatory agencies, and outside consultants.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Safety Management, Occupational Safety & Health, or a related field preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in a safety-related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and relevant chemical/manufacturing experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with EHS regulations.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Working knowledge of PSM, RMP, MOC, process safety, and chemical processing/material handling.
  • Strong analytical, risk-assessment, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate regulatory documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong follow-through with a focus on safety, compliance, continuous improvement, and accountability.

This position works in both office and production plant environments and may involve exposure to fumes, dust, noise, and hazardous chemicals. Appropriate PPE and safety precautions are required. The role may occasionally require extended hours, evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Candidates must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including extended periods of standing and walking and periodically lifting up to 50 pounds.
