Job summary

DSJ Global is seeking a PSM Engineer for a global chemical manufacturing facility. The role leads Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) initiatives, acting as the site process safety expert and partnering with operations, maintenance, engineering, environmental and EHS teams to strengthen safety performance and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing environments governed by PSM/EPA RMP requirements.
  • Experience leading PHAs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, and risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of MOC, MI, PSI, and incident investigation programs.

  • Lead and facilitate PHAs, revalidations, and LOPA analyses.
  • Support OSHA PSM and EPA RMP program elements.
  • Coordinate process safety activities across functions.
  • Develop PSI, MI, MOC, procedures, training, and emergency response.
  • Evaluate hazards of new products, equipment, and processes.
  • Identify risk reduction opportunities and implement controls.
  • Participate in process safety incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Drive process safety audits, regulatory assessments, and compliance.

Salary: USD110000 - USD160000 per annum

About the Company

A global manufacturing organization is seeking a PSM Engineer to lead and support Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) initiatives at a complex chemical manufacturing facility. This individual will serve as the site's process safety subject matter expert, partnering closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, environmental, and EHS teams to strengthen process safety performance, reduce risk, and support regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Leading and facilitating Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), revalidations, and Layer of Protection Analyses (LOPA) utilizing methodologies such as HAZOP, What-If, and Checklist reviews.
  • Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) elements.
  • Coordinating process safety activities across operations, maintenance, engineering, environmental, and safety teams.
  • Supporting Process Safety Information (PSI), Mechanical Integrity (MI), Management of Change (MOC), operating procedures, training, and emergency response programs.
  • Evaluating process and chemical hazards associated with new products, equipment, technologies, and process modifications.
  • Identifying and implementing risk reduction opportunities through engineering controls, procedural improvements, and safeguard enhancements.
  • Participating in process safety incident investigations and corrective action development to drive organizational learning and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting process safety audits, regulatory assessments, and compliance reviews.
  • Monitoring and driving closure of process safety recommendations and corrective actions.
  • Providing guidance on recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEP).
  • Developing and delivering process safety training and awareness programs for plant personnel.
  • Collaborating with corporate and third-party process safety experts to implement best practices and improve overall site risk management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment covered under OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) regulations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA RMP (40 CFR Part 68) requirements.
  • Experience leading or participating in PHAs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, and other process risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of Management of Change (MOC), Mechanical Integrity (MI), Process Safety Information (PSI), and incident investigation programs.
  • Strong understanding of hazard recognition, risk assessment, and risk mitigation principles.
  • Experience supporting process safety audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance initiatives.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and process safety software such as PHA-Pro or similar platforms.
  • Professional engineering certification or advanced process safety training is a plus.
