Job summary

Bakelite seeks a Process Project Engineer to define, plan, and lead process and capital projects at sites in MS and AR. You will collaborate with site personnel, provide engineering services, and drive reliability and safety through risk reviews and change management.

You will apply chemical engineering principles, SAP ERP, and Aveva PI, while guiding cost estimates and project execution. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• BS, Chemical Engineering and 5 years’ experience in Chemical Process Industries as process or project engineer, or equivalent experience.
• Strong working knowledge and application of recognized good engineering practices for chemical process plant design and operation.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Knowledge of Microsoft tools, including database structures and SharePoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define, plan, lead and execute key non-capital and capital assignments.
• Collaborate with site personnel and key technical resources to provide process and project engineering services.
• Provide insights from analysis of process operating data, troubleshooting, and interaction with operations, maintenance, engineering or R&D.
• Participate in or lead process risk/hazard reviews.
• Participate in or lead incident review and root cause analysis.
• Participate in management of change.
• Define conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design packages including process control descriptions.
• Manage internal and external engineering services for project packages.
• Prepare cost estimates for new or modified site assets.
• Facilitate and lead project stage gate reviews.
• Obtain financial approval for assigned projects.
• Facilitate reliability reviews when needed.
• Select equipment or contract services through bid analysis.
• Provide peer review and recommended practices.
• Complete regular status reporting and work prioritization.
