Job summary

Bakelite is seeking a Process Project Engineer to define, plan, lead and execute key projects. You will collaborate with site personnel and provide process engineering services, using data analysis and hands-on troubleshooting to improve operations and safety.

The role requires a BS in Chemical Engineering with 5 years' experience in chemical processes, familiarity with SAP, SharePoint, and strong communication. Travel may be required; location near Taylorsville, MS preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical Engineering with 5 years’ experience in Chemical Process Industries as process or project engineer or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of engineering practices for chemical process plant design and operation involving hazardous materials and safety systems.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Proficiency with Microsoft tools including databases and SharePoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop safe, predictable, and reliable processes.
• Apply and define standard engineering design practices.
• Participate in or lead process risk/hazard reviews.
• Participate in or lead incident review and root cause analysis.
• Participate in management of change.
• Assist in definition and execution of the capital plan.
• Define conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design packages including process control descriptions.
• Manage internal and external engineering services for project packages.
• Prepare cost estimates for new or modified site assets.
• Facilitate and lead project stage gate reviews.
• Obtain financial approval for assigned projects.
• Facilitate reliability reviews when needed.
• Select equipment or contract services through bid analysis
• Provide peer review and recommended practices.
• Complete regular status reporting and work prioritization.
