Job summary

Oerlikon Group in Westbury, NY, is seeking a Process Operator for the 2:00 PM–10:30 PM shift (Mon–Fri). Under close supervision, you will set up and operate equipment in a production environment, monitor product quality, and implement process changes per SOPs, while maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

The role requires technical training or an associate degree, ability to read English instructions, basic math, and 2+ years of manufacturing experience.

Qualifications

  • Technical Trades School or Associate degree preferred.
  • Ability to service and assemble manufacturing equipment such as industrial vibratory screening units.
  • Must be able to read/comprehend written and verbal instruction in English.
  • Must be able to communicate 1 on 1 and in small groups.
  • Must have basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide using weight and volume units.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience or similar.
  • Must be able to recommend improvements to the process with regard to safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Must have to be able to operate forklifts and experience also working with electric hoists/cranes is preferred.
  • Core Competencies: safety, keeping work area clean, performing quality work per work instructions, completing scheduled work on time, teamwork, and attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to shift supervisor on production status, problems, and deviations.
  • Reads and applies information contained in specifications to determine equipment settings that impact product outputs.
  • Examines material to ensure conformance to established standards.
  • Maintains processing reports to record and enter into batch records and databases.
  • Ensures correct materials are used according to production records and planner schedule.
  • Identifies and labels all production materials in process.
  • Follows safety and work rules and corrects unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains department housekeeping standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Oerlikon is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position, which is $24.00 to $26.00 per hour. Some positions within Oerlikon may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for the role will be based on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, internal equity, job location, work experience, education, training, certifications, licenses, etc. Therefore, as compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual, it is likely that not all applicants will be hired at the highest end of the listed compensation range. Our total compensation package goes beyond base compensation and it will include a competitive benefits package starting with 2 weeks paid time off accrued on a monthly basis, 12 holidays, 48 hours personal/sick time (exception for NY where we follow State law,) medical, dental, vision, 401K, holidays, pet insurance and tuition reimbursement all effective day one of hire.
