Job Description

Process Operations Technicians report to the Operations Shift Supervisor. These are hands-on field positions responsible for the safe and efficient operation of process equipment and systems. Technicians will perform a wide variety of functions in multiple areas within the process plant and/or water management areas (including tailing storage facility).

Job Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

1. Perform all duties with a focus on safety, environmental stewardship, and best operating practices.
2. Operate process equipment and systems according to standard operating procedures and work instructions from the supervisor.
3. Troubleshoot plant operational problems, complete repairs, and perform preventative maintenance.
4. Read meters, gauges, automatic recording devices, or perform visual inspections to verify proper operating conditions.
5. Record data such as production rates and inventory levels as required.
6. Inspect equipment periodically to detect malfunctions or need for repair, and perform maintenance such as tightening fittings, oiling, lubricating, and replacing components.
7. Operate fixed and mobile equipment competently and seek continuous improvement in the work environment.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of industrial treatment processes is beneficial.
• Comfortable working with computers.
• Knowledge of process control systems and Microsoft Office software is beneficial.

Skills & Abilities:

• Commitment to behavioral-based safety culture.
• Problem assessment and sound recommendation skills.
• Ability to work within a team and adapt to change.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Experience:

• Prior industrial operation experience is beneficial.
• Water Treatment experience is beneficial.

Language Skills:

Must communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing.

Mathematics Ability:

Ability to perform basic mathematics.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to follow detailed instructions and troubleshoot problems logically.

Physical Requirements:

1. Regularly stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.
2. Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
3. Work in a surface mine plant setting, exposed to temperature and humidity extremes.
4. Use personal protective equipment as required.
5. Participate in drug/alcohol testing programs.
