Job summary

M4 Control Systems in Minneapolis, MN area is seeking a Process & Instrumentation Engineer to join our growing team. This full-time, hands-on role focuses on automation and controls projects for the dairy and food processing industries.

You will design PFDs and P&IDs, generate device lists, and collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Experience with AutoCAD/SolidWorks and strong communication skills are essential; knowledge of FDA/USDA standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Agricultural/Food Science or Food Technology Engineering or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of process engineering experience in dairy/food/beverage industries.
• Experience reading technical documents and preparing reports.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review PFDs and P&IDs for dairy/food projects using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Generate device lists, instrument indexes, and equipment specifications with Excel.
• Support process design activities including material balances and utilities.
• Collaborate with project managers, automation engineers, and clients to meet safety and regulatory standards.
• Participate in process hazard analyses, risk assessments, and validation activities.
• Provide input during project execution, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Perform engineering calculations related to process design and equipment sizing.
• Assist startup and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
