Job summary

Corning Incorporated in North Carolina is seeking a Process Engineering professional to apply scientific methods and engineering principles to manufacturing operations across the globe, delivering measurable improvements in throughput and capability. You will lead projects, mentor operators, and partner with teams to solve complex process problems with data-driven methods.

The role requires a BS in chemical/materials/ceramic/mechanical engineering with 5+ years hands-on experience, plus travel

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated use of scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively, using well-designed and executed processes and experiment plans.
  • Ability to determine and recommend best solution from a series of alternatives within production facility guidelines.
  • Strong data analysis and statistical skills; Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Minitab, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the design and development of new processes or improvement to existing processes at Corning facilities worldwide.
  • Lead yourself and teams towards solving problems and improving processes based on fundamental understanding and structured problem solving methods such as KT, Designed Experimentation, or Six Sigma.
  • Lead the implementation of Process Control and Process Discipline systems into manufacturing operations, as well as, use your analytical skills to analyze process data using statistical tools (e.g. pareto, regression, time charting, analysis of variance, gauge R&R, etc.).
  • Other responsibilities include measuring and communicating performance against established objectives, reviewing and interpreting data to make recommendations on immediate actions, long term corrective actions, follow-up experiments, etc., and documenting processes and mentoring operators and peers on defined processes
