Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Concord, NC is seeking a Process Engineer to provide technical support for chemical technology, pollution abatement, and facility systems within optical fiber manufacturing. This hands-on, early-career role emphasizes data-driven problem solving in a fast-paced outdoor manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include diagnosing process issues, leading cost reduction and process optimization projects, and supporting startup of new equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics (Chemical or Mechanical preferred).
• 1+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong data analysis and statistical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access.
• Experience with experimental design.
• Strong technical fundamentals with process engineering skills.
• Project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide process understanding and technical support for chemical technology, pollution abatement, and facility systems supporting optical fiber manufacturing
• Diagnose and resolve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts
• Lead and support projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new product/process introduction
• Analyze key process metrics, identify trends, and implement response plans
• Support startup of new equipment and systems; develop and maintain engineering and operations documentation
• Actively engage in plant safety initiatives and provide training to engineering and operations personnel on equipment and process changes
