Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Process Engineering Technician I to join our Lewiston, ID manufacturing team. The role provides technical support, clarifies production process specifications, and helps ensure accurate, efficient production with a swing shift (Mon-Fri, 3:00pm–11:30pm).

A typical day includes measuring yield and efficiency, documenting procedures, procuring tools, training staff, and applying World Class Manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience is required.
• Familiarity with manufacturing equipment relevant to the role.
• Basic computer skills with Windows-based programs (Excel, Word, SQL).
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Manufacturing team as a Process Engineering Technician I in Lewiston, Idaho. If you are looking to grow your career and are motivated by solving meaningful problems.

As a Process Engineering Technician I, you'll provide immediate technical support to manufacturing and clarify production process specification requirements to ensure accurate and efficient production. SHIFT: Swing (2nd shift) (Mon-Fri, 3:00pm to 11:30pm)

A typical day as a Process Engineering Technician I might include:

• Assisting in measuring and improving yield, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Documenting, modifying, and maintaining manufacturing related procedures.
• Managing the procurement of assembly process tools.
• Training operators and support staff as needed.
• Learning and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operation, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

This job might be for you if:

• You have a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with the manufacturing equipment relevant to the role
• You have basic computer skills including familiarity with windows-based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, SQL)
• You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• You can learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• You can work cooperatively in a team environment.

It is a plus if you have:

• Experience troubleshooting process and machinery problems.
• Experience writing and/or conducting Design of Experiments.
• Experience programming and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Experience preparing materials cross-sections for microscopic analysis.
• Working knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics.

Pay Range Data - $35.38 - $51.10 per hour (plus swing shift differential: $5.00/hr) We set starting pay based on job-related factors such as your experience, training, knowledge, and skills. We are looking to fill this position at a level 1, and we welcome applicants with a range of experience. Depending on your background, we may consider you for a different level, with compensation aligned accordingly. Level I: $35.38 - $51.10 per hour Level II: $38.33 - $55.44 per hour
