Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) invites applicants for a Process Engineering Co‑Op or Process Control Co‑Op/Intern at our mills. The role supports optimization, data analysis, testing, and control-system improvements to boost mill efficiency, safety, and quality.

Ideal candidates are pursuing Chemical or Paper Engineering, have a 3.0 GPA, are 18+, and are legally eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0 required.
• Must be a permanent U.S. resident with a valid driver's license.
• Majoring in Chemical or Paper Engineering or a related field.
• Must have completed freshman year or will have completed freshman year by start.
• Must be 18 years or older at time of co-op/intern.

Responsibilities

• Support process optimization and engineering projects to improve mill efficiency, reliability, quality, safety, and cost.
• Collect and analyze process and production data to troubleshoot issues and support decisions.
• Conduct routine pulp, paper, and chemical testing to support evaluations and quality control.
• Monitor key process sensing equipment, consistency loops, and control systems to verify accuracy and reliability.
• Assist startup activities, maintenance inspections, and updates to safety or chemical documentation.
• Assist with control system documentation and wiring records during outages or down days.
