Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking chemical engineering co-ops/interns for Process Engineering and Process Control roles. The positions involve supporting mill optimization, data analysis, and testing to boost efficiency and quality.

Opportunities span PCA’s 10 mill locations across the United States. Applicants should be enrolled in Chemical or Paper Engineering and meet all basic qualifications, including GPA, age, and residency requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0 required.
• Must be a permanent U.S. resident with valid driver's license.
• Majoring in Chemical or Paper Engineering or related field; freshman year completed or to be completed by time of co-op/intern.
• Must be 18 years or older at time of co-op/intern.

Responsibilities

• Support process optimization and projects to improve mill efficiency, reliability, quality, safety and cost performance.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret process data for troubleshooting and decision support.
• Perform routine pulp, paper, and chemical testing for evaluations and quality control.
• Monitor key process sensing equipment and control systems for proper operation.
• Assist with startup activities, maintenance inspections, and safety documentation updates.
• Support documentation and data updates as requested by management.
