Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Rolling Meadows, IL, is seeking a Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team. You will research, design, develop, procure, test, maintain, and implement process improvements for EO DAS, IFTS, and EOSS hardware, while supporting production and testing activities.

The role emphasizes collaboration with suppliers, root-cause analysis, and applying Six Sigma and Lean methods to reduce cost and boost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline with 2+ years of relevant work experience
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• Experience in process development, fixture design, and troubleshooting
• Experience in hardware design and manufacturing
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; US citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, procure, test, maintain, and implement improvements for electronic/electro‑optical equipment
• Support repair and sustainment of EO DAS sensors and FLIR systems
• Design and validate new manufacturing processes and fixtures
• Create and maintain manufacturing engineering documentation (e.g., change notices, routing instructions)
• Provide technical guidance to production technicians on failure analysis and corrective actions
• Troubleshoot production hardware to identify root causes and recommend fixes
• Collaborate with suppliers to resolve hardware issues and improve cost efficiency
