Job summary

Wausau Coated Products in Wausau, WI seeks a Process Engineer to join the Process Engineering team. You will lead initiatives to reduce lead time, costs, inventory, and improve quality while prioritizing employee safety.

Responsibilities include developing process improvements, creating SOPs, guiding Lean Six Sigma projects, and collaborating across manufacturing, maintenance, and quality to deliver results. Bachelor's in engineering and hands-on factory experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent)
• 3-10 years applicable experience in a coating or paper converting environment desired
• Software proficiency (MS-Office, AutoCAD, Minitab)
• Experience with Six Sigma and Lean concepts
• Proven project management experience
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals. Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
• Ability to carry out written/oral/diagram form instructions; handle multiple variables in standardized situations.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and critical thinking skills; strong written and verbal communication.
• Good record of job performance, attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Leads safety activities and improvements.
• Develop improvements of processes and methods that enhance production efficiency, manufacturing personnel support, and product quality.
• Manage process changes in support of product development.
• Develop written standard operating procedures and work instructions for key manufacturing processes.
• Lean Six Sigma Green belt certified; capable of leading Lean Six Sigma teams.
• Interact interdepartmentally with people at all levels of the organization.
• Display strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Utilize statistical methods to analyze data for cost reduction, quality improvement and increased efficiency.
• Capable of leading capital projects of intermediate complexity with interdepartmental collaboration.
• Provide intermittent mentoring to ensure projects are completed on time and to expectation.
