Job summary

U.S. Pipe and Foundry seeks a Process Engineer to support the Alabama Works facility in Bessemer.

The role focuses on developing and standardizing melting, casting, and pipe-processing procedures to ensure quality and reduce risk to employees, environment, and customers. You will analyze and modify processes to improve throughput and coordinate with Operations, Quality and Procurement to test new processes.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
• Experience with analytical methods and formal problem‑solving methodologies is required.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops standard work applications and procedures to ensure efficiency and quality.
• Leads the development of standard raw material specifications for supplier QA and procurement bidding.
• Test new processes and materials with Operations, Quality and Procurement to improve efficiency, quality and cost.
• Reduce downtime, costs and scrap through Lean events and tools.
• Interact with customers and internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Provide plant training, time studies, and standard work auditing.
