Job summary

ADM Decatur, IL is seeking a Process Engineer to drive operational improvements and optimize chemical and mechanical processes. You will partner with production to lead improvements from concept to startup, review costs, yields, and performance, and help improve reliability.

This full-time, exempt role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering and 2+ years of experience, familiarity with RCA tools, DMAIC, KPI development, and documentation, with OSHA PSM knowledge a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural).
• 2+ years of process engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing or agricultural processing facility.
• Experience with equipment troubleshooting and KPI development.
• Project management experience with budgeting and scheduling.
• Strong problem solving, diagnostic and analytical skills, with a results focused approach.
• Strong leadership, change management and project/program management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, acts as a reliable pro-active communicator.

Responsibilities

• Oversee processes and manage department projects, including materials, installation, budget, and startup.
• Develop process KPIs and action plans to address pain points.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles such as DMAIC to optimize and stabilize unit operations.
• Assist in day-to-day operations troubleshooting and trend analysis using RCA tools.
• Facilitate change management and maintain process documentation.
• Interact with maintenance, controls, process, and quality personnel on improvements.
• Identify and comply with safety, food safety and environmental requirements.
