Job summary

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Process Engineer III to lead projects focused on continuous improvement and production sustainment. You will conduct experiments, record data, and perform risk assessments while partnering with operations and program management to enforce specifications.

In this role you will apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma DMAIC methods on the production floor, drive cost reductions, and mentor junior engineers as part of a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or Science
• 4 to 6 years working experience in manufacturing or laboratory environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on mentality
• Ability to adjust to shifting priorities
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
• Experience with composite materials and/or materials science a plus
• Programming experience (VBA, C or C++) a plus
• CAD experience (CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) a plus
• SAP experience a plus
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles a plus
• Minitab experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Spends a dedicated amount of time on the production floor inspecting and assessing where process improvement can be applied.
• Develop and/or improve processes for the manufacture of new or existing products.
• Work with cross-functional teams (Quality and Production) in leading efforts in improving product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement countermeasures to prevent failure recurrence.
• Develop and implement concepts, including Lean Manufacturing, to reduce manufacturing cost and increase process throughput.
• Create/manage manufacturing documentation, and provide technical oversight for high priority projects to a successful conclusion including training.
• Lead complex manufacturing trials supported by detailed data analysis and recommend next steps.
• Work with site leadership to guide the technical direction of assigned manufacturing areas.
• Manage and seek improvements to the processing of engineering flow down requirements to better quality, lead-times, or cost.
• Provide guidance and assistance to less experienced Process Engineers.
• Manage higher project workloads and adapt quickly as priorities change.
• Other essential duties may be assigned.
