Job summary

Suominen Corporation seeks a Process Engineer for Windsor Locks to support safe, efficient manufacturing and drive continuous improvement. You will implement operational development, optimize processes, and contribute to a high-performance culture within our process engineering team at the Windsor Locks site.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will analyze production methods, troubleshoot issues, and participate in best-practice networks while assisting in recruiting and training new personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, or related field.
• 1–3 years in non-woven production/production management.
• Strong problem-solving using scientific methods.
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
• Ability to address technical problems and make decisions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Read, write and speak English.
• Willingness to upgrade skills via training.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and travel overnight.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe practices and maintain cleanliness in the work area.
• Active participant in the site Safety Team.
• Analyze, design, automate production methods to manufacture various quantities.
• Identify root causes of bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
• Implement true process control per Suominen procedures.
• Participate in SPC at line level.
• Provide shop floor technical support for machining, programming, fabrication, testing, and assembly.
• Troubleshoot day-to-day shop floor problems.
• Participate in Best Practice teams and share knowledge.
• Review drawings for feasibility, design and cost.
• Execute projects to reduce costs and improve productivity.
• Provide backup for Plant Manager and other Process Engineers.
• Assist in recruiting and training new production personnel.
• On-call duties.
