Job summary

Corning Inc. in Painted Post, NY, is seeking an Engineer, Process to improve manufacturing performance by reducing defects and optimizing processes using DMAIC, Six Sigma, and statistical tools. You will evaluate materials, equipment, and parameters, document changes, and support projects across divisions.

The role requires a BS in a relevant engineering field, 0–5 years' experience, strong data-driven decision making, and excellent communication. Domestic travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum of BS in chemical, materials, ceramic, mechanical engineering, or computer science
• 0 to 5 years’ experience in engineering/manufacturing
• Rigorous problem solving and proficiency in the use of process control and analysis techniques
• Experience completing projects in a manufacturing organization
• Decision making based on data

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new processes or improve existing processes at Corning facilities worldwide
• Solve problems and improve processes based on fundamental understanding and structured problem solving methods such as KT, Designed Experimentation, or Six Sigma
• Implement Process Control and Process Discipline systems into manufacturing operations
• Analyze process data using statistical tools such as pareto, regression, time charting, analysis of variance, gauge R&R, and related techniques
• Measure and communicate performance against established objectives
• Review and interpret data to make recommendations on immediate actions, long term corrective actions, and follow up experiments
• Reduce defects by eliminating root causes and improve manufacturing cost, quality, uptime, yields, cycle time, and safety
• Work with suppliers to improve performance and evaluate new raw materials, new equipment, or new process parameters
• Document SOP, SOS, experiment planning, process changes, and other process documentation
• Train operators and peers on defined processes and support process implementation across manufacturing environments
