Job summary

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) seeks a Process Engineer to support the development, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes in our Raleigh area facility. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring new processes into production and optimize existing operations.

You will analyze data, conduct PFMEA and SPC studies, perform DOE trials, and create process documentation such as SOPs and control plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related role.
  • Experience developing, improving, and troubleshooting manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of SPC, DOE, Cpk, and Gage R&R.
  • Experience creating PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flows, SOPs, and Work Instructions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and improve manufacturing processes to support safe, efficient, and consistent production.
  • Plan and execute engineering trials to establish process settings and operating parameters for new and existing equipment.
  • Analyze production data to improve quality, throughput, equipment performance, and overall efficiency.
  • Monitor process performance using key metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and production startup activities.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve process or equipment issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Lead or support PFMEA, risk assessments, and other process improvement activities.
  • Conduct Gage R&R studies, process capability studies, and SPC analysis to ensure stable manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process flows, work instructions, control plans, SOPs, and process checklists.
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, maintenance, engineering, and suppliers to improve manufacturing performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support equipment installations, supplier visits, or FATs.

Process Engineer

The Role

As a Process Engineer, you will support the development, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes. You will work with cross-functional teams to bring new processes into production, optimize existing operations, and ensure equipment and processes consistently meet quality, safety, and production goals. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and a hands-on approach to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, test, and improve manufacturing processes to support safe, efficient, and consistent production.
  • Plan and execute engineering trials to establish process settings and operating parameters for new and existing equipment.
  • Analyze production data to improve quality, throughput, equipment performance, and overall efficiency.
  • Monitor process performance using key metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and production startup activities.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve process or equipment issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Lead or support Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), risk assessments, and other process improvement activities.
  • Conduct Gage R&R studies, process capability studies, and statistical process control (SPC) analysis to ensure stable manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process flows, work instructions, control plans, SOPs, and process checklists.
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, maintenance, engineering, and suppliers to improve manufacturing performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support equipment installations, supplier visits, or Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting new product introductions or manufacturing process launches.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), data analysis tools, or automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and manufacturing best practices.
