Job summary

Gelest Inc., part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, is seeking a Research Engineer to develop new processes and deploy technologies across Process Technology and Production. Expect collaboration with Process Chemistry, Production, Quality/Analytical, Maintenance and Business Development.

Responsibilities include technology transfer from Product Development to Production, creating procedures, training, safety reviews, and startup activities to ensure smooth scale‑up and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• B.S. in chemical engineering or related discipline required.
• 2–5 years hands-on process development and safety in chemical manufacturing.
• Master’s degree in engineering is helpful.
• Familiarity with basic unit operations (batch/continuous reactors, heat exchangers, distillation, etc.).
• Experience with polymers or polymerization is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and assess technology transfer from development to production.
• Document work and progress; establish procedures and training for transfer.
• Lead or assist troubleshooting and root cause analysis for processes.
• Design, build, commission, start-up and validate demonstration processes.
• Design testing protocols to optimize performance across lab, pilot, and production.
• Coordinate production trials including materials specs, procedures, monitoring, and reporting.
