Gelest Inc. (a part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group) is seeking a Research Engineer to advance specialty materials, scale-up processes, and improve production efficiency. Join a collaborative team focused on developing safer, more effective chemical technologies used globally.

The role emphasizes hands-on development from lab bench to pilot and production, with strong emphasis on safety, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration. Travel to multi-site locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Solid problem solving and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to interact with plant personnel.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Able to interpret SDS and packaging code information and follow procedures.
• Experience with polymers and polymerization processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, commission and trouble shoot demonstration processes.
• Design and execute testing protocols to optimize process performance across lab, pilot and production.
• Coordinate trial batches in production, drafting procedures and monitoring results.
• Lead or assist troubleshooting activities for existing processes and perform root cause analysis.
• Ensure safety and environmental compliance in all activities.
