Job summary

Amgen in Thousand Oaks, CA is seeking an Associate Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists. The role focuses on developing and optimizing synthetic unit operations for technology transfer and manufacturing, including experimental design, data analysis, process risk assessment, and in-plant support during commissioning.

Travel up to 20% and collaboration across Manufacturing, Process Development and Quality are key.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree required.
• Associates degree with 4 years engineering experience acceptable.
• HS diploma or GED with 6 years engineering experience acceptable.
• Industry background in chemical engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments for process development and scale-up.
• Author documents for process understanding and technical transfer.
• Function as technical expert for lab equipment or systems.
• Provide troubleshooting guidance and recommend process improvements.
• Apply engineering principles and statistics to solve process issues.
• Communicate and collaborate with Manufacturing, Process Development, and Quality.
