Process Design Engineer

We are looking for an energetic process design engineer to take ownership and responsibility of all process engineering related activities at our site. The Process Design Engineer will support the plant with activities including, but not limited to:

  1. Working on various projects such as troubleshooting, improvement projects, growth initiatives, and Process Safety.
  2. Developing Front-End-Engineering packages to define project scope, including equipment checks, PID development, safety valve analysis, equipment specifications, hydraulic evaluations, vendor coordination, control valve sizing, and PHA closeouts.
  3. Leading project scope definition, working closely with discipline leads and stakeholders.
  4. Participating in incident investigations and owning process engineering related incidents, often leading to project improvements.
Essential Functions
  • Developing MOC packages.
  • Proposing troubleshooting ideas based on situation evaluations.
  • Ensuring processes and equipment comply with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Leading small capital projects (less than $2M), including plant layout, equipment purchasing, construction support, PID walk downs, commissioning, and startup.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering

Experience: 5+ years with an EPC or petrochemical operating company

Skills: Line and pump sizing, equipment evaluation, process modeling software (Aspen+, Hysys, ChemCAD), knowledge of distillation, process control, tank design, teamwork, and technical skills including MS Office, Visio, Bluebeam, ChemCAD/Aspen.

Working Conditions

Activities include walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, environmental exposure, and PPE requirements.
