Job summary

Air Products is seeking a Process Controls Engineer to be based at our Global HQ in Allentown, PA or an office in LaPorte, TX. The role focuses on DCS/PLC automation, instrumentation, and safe operation of our industrial gas facilities across the Americas.

The position requires 5+ years in process automation, a BS in engineering, and ability to travel 20–40% with on-call coverage. We offer strong benefits and a Veterans-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of work experience in process automation systems and/or instrumentation engineering.
• Experience with automation systems, control panels and field instrumentation.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with engineering teams and site operations.
• Safety Sensitive Position; pass pre-employment and random drug tests.

Responsibilities

• Support instrumentation and process control system needs of North and South America facilities that supply Oxygen, Nitrogen, Helium, Carbon Dioxide and Hydrogen to customers.
• Troubleshoot urgent operational needs for remote facilities; from Process Instrumentation to DCS and PLC control logic, to Engineering and Operator Control Stations.
• Safely implementing improvement projects with multi-disciplinary teams, and supporting maintenance outages for routine PM tasks, productivity modifications or obsolete equipment upgrades.
• Support the improvement and optimization of existing assets, addressing instrumentation and process control system obsolescence challenges.
