Job summary

International Paper in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Process Control Engineer to coordinate improvement opportunities for mill process systems and drive reliability across people, equipment, and processes. You will work with Manufacturing and Optimization teams to implement short- and long-term improvements and support the mill's safety programs.

The role requires BS in engineering and 5–8 years of related experience, with hands-on knowledge of process control systems, DCS/PLC, and data systems.

Qualifications

• BS in related engineering discipline and/or equivalent experience.
• 5–8 years of experience in a related discipline.
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and safety leadership.
• Strong facilitation, project execution, follow-up and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members and customers.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate improvement opportunities and action plans for mill process systems.
• Interact daily with Manufacturing and Optimization teams to gather information and implement improvements.
• Support safety programs as a priority and exemplify IP values.
• Provide weekend and off-hour support for electrical equipment; participate in maintenance on-call rotation after one year on-site.
• Design and implement process control strategies to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Select hardware and software designs for new process automation projects.
• Support DCS/PLC systems including network infrastructure, data historian, and SQL databases.
