Job summary

BiOrigin Specialty Products in Ladysmith, WI is seeking a Process Controls Engineer to design, implement, and optimize control strategies for our paper mill equipment. You will work with E&I and maintenance teams to improve reliability and minimize downtime.

The role requires strong knowledge of DCS/PLC systems, instrumentation, and data historians, with a focus on continuous process improvement and safety.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Pulp/Paper Science).
• Minimum of five (5) years process control experience.
• Good working knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
• Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley PLC5 and ControLogix) is a plus.
• Strong data analysis and use of process data historians (OSI PI and Honeywell PHD).
• Understand P&ID drawings and able to create/support them with AutoCAD or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Improve existing controls, streamline operator tasks, and lead troubleshooting efforts to reduce downtime.
• Maintain/modify machine control logic, HMIs, hardware, and networks.
• Back up all control system device programs to a central location.
• Develop data historian reports and perform system maintenance.
• Configure and troubleshoot motors, VFDs, and instrumentation up to 4160 V.
• Support capital projects with project justification and execution.
