Job summary

AMERICAN in Birmingham, AL seeks a Process Compliance Engineer to ensure QMS processes align with SOPs, WIs, quality standards, safety, and regulatory obligations. You will drive corrective actions to improve operational consistency, quality, and performance.

You will lead internal and support external audits, review and improve process documentation, and promote continuous improvement across departments. Strong communication and hands-on, shop-oriented engineering approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from ABET EAC accredited program; proof required.
• Lead auditor training in ISO 9001 and API processes or plan to complete within six months.
• Strong knowledge of QMS requirements (ISO 9001/API Q1) and audit practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; punctuality and attendance are essential.

Responsibilities

• Audit employee and process compliance with WIs, SOPs, and quality standards; identify gaps and drive corrective actions.
• Review and improve work instructions, SOPs, and process documentation.
• Ensure compliance with QMS standards and regulatory requirements (ISO, API).
• Lead internal audits and coordinate customer, third-party, and regulatory audits.
• Monitor changes through the MOC process and promote process standardization.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Technical Services, and Product Development to support quality objectives.
