Job summary

SCI is seeking a Regulatory / QA Engineer to implement and revise the quality management system, ensure ISO & AS9100 compliance, and lead audits. The role involves PFMEA, control plans, and data-driven improvements across multiple contracts.

Responsibilities include internal audits, documentation for inspections, and supporting new product introductions. A bachelor’s degree plus 12+ years in manufacturing QA/regulatory roles are required, with strong cross-functional engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience as a Quality/Regulatory Engineer in manufacturing, preferably electronics.
  • Familiar with ISO9001/IATF16949, AS9100, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret standards and technical drawings.
  • Proficient with standard quality tools (SPC, MSA, FMEA, control plans, PPAP).
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • ISO coordinator and lead auditor for external audits.
  • Coordinate and lead customer and registrar audits.
  • Maintain, review and develop QMS procedures to comply with ISO/AS standards.
  • Perform internal audits to ensure process conformance.
  • Develop and revise PFMEA, QC plans, and contract review documents.
  • Analyze data and trends to drive corrective actions.
  • Support FRACAS root-cause investigations for returns.
  • Assist in NPI activities and changes affecting quality.
  • Report to management on QMS performance and improvements.

Position Title

Regulatory / QA Engineer

Job Purpose

Accountable for understanding, implementing and revising all aspects of the quality management system. Participates in quality management system development and helps maintain certification. Lead auditor and contact for registrar and customer audits. Performs internal audit to ensure the quality management system is in compliance with ISO & AS9100 standards. Also participates in advanced product quality activities. Supports product/process changes to meet customer requirements on several prime contracts. Analyzes reports and returned products and recommends corrective action. Prepares documentation for inspection/testing procedures.

Nature of Duties / Responsibilities
  • ISO coordinator
  • Coordinate and lead external audit for customer and registrar
  • Responsible for plant / customer validation reviews
  • Report to management on the Quality Management System
  • Maintain, review and develop procedures to ensure Quality Management System complies with ISO standards (13485, AS9100, etc.)
  • Perform internal audits to ensure processes are in compliance with standards and procedures
  • Develop and revise reports, procedures and documents including PFMEA, quality control plans and contract review documents
  • Perform data analysis and trend identification on in‑process and finished products to drive root cause and corrective/preventive actions
  • Participate in the FRACAS root cause and corrective action process for customer returns
  • Perform material review board dispositions on suspected material
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline
  • Minimum 12 years experience as a Quality / Regulatory Engineer in a manufacturing environment; preferably in the electronic manufacturing industry
  • Six Sigma green projects and lean events preferred but not required
  • Familiar with standards/specifications/regulatory compliance, including government
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact and communicate
  • Ability to read and interpret standards and part‑specific technical prints and drawings
  • Solid experience with standard quality tools and documentation (SPC, MSA, FMEA, control plans, Six Sigma, Pareto analysis, APQP, PPAP, ISO9001/IATF16949)
  • Ability to translate customer quality requirements into executable plans
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Agile databases and their use is highly desirable
