Job summary
Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Process Automation Engineer I in Bayard, NM. You will collaborate with the Process Automation team to troubleshoot and improve ICS performance, ensuring safety and environmental compliance while supporting cybersecurity practices and site standards.
The role involves engineering project proposals, design work, and life-cycle planning. You will develop understanding of advanced instrumentation, support budget estimates, and contribute to process optimization through
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is required for the role.
- Experience with plant process historians or similar database storage and retrieval systems.
- Experience with ASP or PCN network architecture, communication, and security.
- Experience in mining and mineral processing systems.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70, NEC, or Electrical Journeyman Training.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Process Automation teams to troubleshoot and improve ICS performance.
- Follow safety/environmental programs and communicate safety implications.
- Coordinate on Process Automation topics and project designs; apply site standards.
- Troubleshoot IC hardware and software; identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Support life-cycle planning with proposals and budget estimates.
